I really enjoyed reading this. It was very thought provoking. It made me think about the intersection between that sense of emptiness deep inside that needs to be filled somehow, and the things we do or become addicted to including sex as a way to either try to fill the hole or pretend it isn't there.
Loved it! Laughed, relatable right down to the dogs & tar (have a Blue Heeler). No shame at all. Our body, our lives, men have been living this way since the dawn of time. The universe has a funny way of keeping us on our toes.
I do not see the reason for shame. Guilt, perhaps. Bit none of what you wrote makes you a bad person. A tad messy, perhaps. But you were young, sowing your oats and finding your way. And you obviously righted the ship and continued on your journey. Very nice writing.
I can see why Monica loves this story so much. What a coming-of-age moment - thank you for sharing your tale! I was cackling along, especially after reading your response to the pack of dogs, “Well played, Universe. Well played. Message received.” It’s so relatable.
It’s always shocking what we do sober is worse or as bad as what we did when we were drinking. I’ve done this kind of shit. And karma always slaps. Such good writing. ✍️ so many killer lines.
Nice to have stumbled upon this to find virtual sober tribe.
🖤
This line is exactly what I’m going through now with a new guy. Ufff
—A sick idea that I had to outdo someone’s previous partners, otherwise I would cease to exist.
I just dropped a non sober story. One of my lady outs.
I’m so grateful we found eachother!!! An old friend of mine used to say “Anna, you’re in a competition with everyone around you but no one knows it but you” 😂😂😂 can’t wait to read your piece with my coffee this morning ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much Julia!!!❤️
I absolutely believe that women feel ashamed for the things that men brag to their friends about. Love your writing.
